IN 2018, THE PILOT BEACH COMPANY BEGAN EXCAVATIONS IN THE AREA IN ORDER TO CONSTRUCT THE HOTEL.

During the excavations broken ceramic pieces from different type of pots, beehive ceramic containers, pipes and construction artefacts were found onsite that were sent to be examined by archeologists. The results prove that the hotel was about to be built on the grounds of a former ceramic workshop from the 2nd century.

Pilot Amphora was completed in 2019 with an exhibition area displaying original copies of the findings so as to honor its grounds and heritage. With historical references, the outcome is a modern boutique hotel designed with earthy colors and several indications to its ceramic history.
